what is Willgerodt-Kindler Reaction?
The willgerodt kindler reaction is the modification of the Willgerodt Reaction. It comes under a Rearrangement reaction. The name has been given after Karl Kindler. It offers the synthesis of amides from aryl ketones from a thiating agent (elemental sulfur) and secondary amine (morpholine).

Willgerodt-Kindler Reaction Mechanism:
The willgerodt rearrangement reaction belongs to the rearrengment reaction. The mechanism’s first step is the formation of an enamine from ketone and amine, which undergoes thiation. And gives an intermediate thio-substituted iminium-aziridinium which will rearrange and give thioamide.
After hydrolysis of thioamide, corresponding amide will form.
